Dr David Shovlin (male) MBBS (Newcastle 1995) FRCP FRCGP

After qualifying from Newcastle Medical School in 1995 Dr Shovlin worked in hospitals across the Northeast, mainly in General Medicine, where he gained experience in elderly care medicine, gastroenterology, rheumatology and dermatology.
He also spent a year as a hospital Registrar specialising in cardiology.He has a special interest in cardiovascular medicine and spends half a day each week working in outpatients in the cardiology department at Hexham General Hospital.Dr Shovlin also spends two days per week as a Director of the Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group, helping to shape local NHS services to the needs of patients.Dr. Shovlin has been a Partner since 2001 having previously been a GP Registrar here.He lives locally and spends his limited leisure time with his young family. He is also a good cook!

 

Dr Paul McClintock (male) MBBS (London 1989) MRCGP DRCOG DCH

Dr McClintock qualified in London in 1989 . He qualified as a GP from the Northallerton GP training scheme in North Yorkshire in 1993. This included time spent in paediatrics, ENT, Gynaecology, general medicine and ophthalmology. He worked in a rural practice in South West Scotland for 9 years before joining Burn Brae Medical Group in 2002.His clinical interests include cardiology, asthma, diabetes and musculoskeletal medicine. He also undertakes minor surgery and joint injections. Dr McClintock is our GP trainer supervising the GP Registrars when they come for their 6 month attachments with us.A keen cyclist, Dr McClintock has competed in numerous endurance events. He enjoys an active family life with his young family.

 

Dr Nick Hargreaves (male) MBBS (Newcastle 1999) MRCP MRCGP

After qualifying from Newcastle Medical School he spent several years working in hospital medicine and oncology in the Northeast and some time in New Zealand prior to undertaking his GP training in Northumberland.Dr. Hargreaves has been a Partner since 2008 having previously been a GP Registrar here. He is the Research lead for the Practice and teaches 3rd year Medical Students.He lives locally and his interests outside the Practice include hillwalking and spending time with his young family.

 

Dr Anne Chalmers (female) BSc (Hons) MB ChB (Leicester Warwick 2005) DRCOG DFRSH MRCGP

Dr Chalmers joined the Practice as a Partner in 2013 after having worked at Burn Brae as a GP Registrar.Her interests include sexual and reproductive health - including coil fitting, implant fitting and STIs. She undertakes minor surgery and is the Practice lead for mental health.Her interests outside work include playing the trombone in the Tyne Valley Big Band and spending time with her family.

 

Dr David Jones (male) MBBS (Newcastle 2009) MRCP (2012) MRCGP (2017)
 

Dr Jones graduated from Newcastle University in 2009 and has trained within the region since qualification, working in most of the acute hospitals. He has gained experience across all medical specialities and worked as a registrar in general medicine and cardiology before training as a GP, and he continues to enjoy these areas as a clinical interest.
Dr Jones joined the practice as a partner in 2018 having previously trained here as a GP registrar. Outside of work Dr Jones has a young family which he enjoys spending time with along with his passion of sports and in particular football.

 

Dr Nikki Franc (female) MBBS (Newcastle 1998) MRCGP DRCOG

Dr Franc qualified from Newcastle Medical School in 1998 and then worked in hospitals in the Northeast and Ireland before returning to work as a GP in Northumberland, joining the Practice in 2011.Dr Franc has worked in a paediatric A&E, dermatology and ophthalmology clinics as well as obstetrics and gynaecology. She has also worked at St. Oswalds Hospice. She has an interest in sexual health and undertakes coil fitting at the Practice. She has an interest in dermatology.Dr Franc has a Certificate in Clinical Education and in addition to teaching 3rd year medical students at the Practice, Dr Franc also works at Newcastle University Medical School as a tutor, overseeing the teaching of medical students in West and North Northumberland. She previously spent a year in Australia where she worked as a clinical skills tutor.She lives locally with her young family.

 

Dr Sarah Frew (female) MBChB (Edin 2002) MRCGP DRCOG

Dr Frew works 2 days a week as a salaried doctor. She has an interest in child health and carries out 8 week baby checks. She also has interests in women's health and mental health. Dr Frew qualified from Edinburgh University in 2002 and worked in Scotland and New Zealand. She moved to the North East in 2005 to complete her general practice training and has since worked in a variety of hospital and GP posts across the region.She lives locally and enjoys the great outdoors with her young family.

 

Dr Emily Bryant (female) MBBS, MRCS, MSc, MRCGP
 
Dr Bryant joined the practice in April 2017 working 3 days a week. Prior to this she spent time here as a GP Registrar. She completed her medical school training in Newcastle in 2005. Following this she spent time working in London before returning to Northumberland to complete her GP training. She has a master’s degree from Nottingham University in Sports and Exercise medicine. She lives locally with her young family and loopy dog.
