Spring Covid Booster Vaccines

This spring those most vulnerable and at greatest risk from COVID-19 will need extra protection . You are eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccine if you are:

• aged 75 years & over (by the 30th June 2024)
• aged 6 months and over and are immunosuppressed (please click "Read More" below for further information).

If you are eligible please use the National Booking System or call 119. You can also book using the NHS App.

Locally appointments are again being offered at Hexham Mart at Tyne Green.  If this location is not available when you try to book, please try again at another time, more appointments are being added all the time.

Please do not call us to arrange a vaccination as we do not have any other way of accessing the appointments.

Immunosuppressed means having a weakened immune system. People who are immunosuppressed have a reduced ability to fight infections and other diseases. Some people will be mildly immunosupressed, others may be severely immunosupressed. For Covid vaccination the NHS has defined the eligible group of patients as follows:

Patients currently undergoing or about to start chemotherapy leading to immunosuppression
Patients undergoing radical radiotherapy
Solid organ transplant recipients
Bone marrow or stem cell transplant recipients
HIV infection at all stages
Multiple myeloma or genetic disorders affecting the immune system (e.g. IRAK-4, NEMO, complement disorder, SCID).
Individuals who are receiving immunosuppressive or immunomodulating biological therapy including, but not limited to, anti-TNF, alemtuzumab, ofatumumab, rituximab
Patients receiving protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors, and individuals treated with steroid sparing agents such as cyclophosphamide and mycophenolate mofetil
Individuals treated with or likely to be treated with systemic steroids for more than a month at a dose equivalent to prednisolone at 20mg or more per day for adults.
