It’s important that people with dementia can visit their GP and get the care and support they need.  GPs are key to providing a diagnosis, information, support, planning and ongoing management and review for people with dementia and their carers. We would encourage all patients with a diagnosis of dementia to have an annual review with a GP of their choice. We have a birthday recall system, so you should be invited to make an appointment around your birthday each year, unless you've recently had a review. We would be happy to see you with a trusted relative or friend if you wish.

Between annual reviews please contact us if you have any health concerns.

There are national support groups for people with Dementia and their carers such as the Alzheimer's Society and Dementia Friends.

Carers Northumberland are also a great resource locally for Carers.

The Blue Book offers a summary of activities and support for older people and people living with dementia in Northumberland.
