The Practice has invested in a new machine for the waiting room. It automatically measures your height and weight and then calculates your Body Mass Index (BMI).
The new machine can be found alongside the existing Blood Pressure monitor. To use the machine simply take off your shoes and step on. The machine has voice prompts to ensure you get an accurate reading and the results are then briefly displayed on the screen as well as being printed off for you. There is no charge for using the machine. The results can be added to your medical record by our reception team or if you have an appointment then you can hand it to your GP or Practice Nurse. Please note that because this is an accurate medical device it has to display the height in metres and the weight in kilograms. We have produced a handy A5 flyer about BMI which includes simple height and weight conversions if you need them.
